Essential amino acids optimum nutrition reviews

Customer Reviews

Mixability: 10/10 The powder is super fine, mixed 100% in a plain water bottle after 10 seconds. No settling, no particles, perfect!

Taste: 10/10 Really, really damn good. I have nothing bad to say about the taste at all. Two scoops in about 12-14 oz of water is just right for me. Nice sweetness, some tartness, definitely one of the best fruit "punch" flavorings out there today. This, and Controlled Labs fruit punch white flood are tops in the fruit fusion/punch category. I haven't mixed it with any more than 2 scoops at once though.

Energy: 8/10 I've used this 3 times now during my workout and I can certainly feel the little kick of caffeine helping me along. I notice it most when I'm done with weights and it's time to cardio, that I have more energy to go still. There isn't enough caffeine to crack you out like some products, but to have this little extra in your intra, in addition to the couple extra carbs is a real bonus. I've tried the and that one gave a REAL kick to the head but not sure if everybody is going for that. It lasts for just a while only but the Amino Energy lasts a little longer.

Conclusion: Great tasting, great mixing, and a well formulated drink mix from Optimum Nutrition. I think they priced it competitively to be evenly matched with the likes of Neurocore, Intrabolic, Intra-Aid, Xtend, etc. ON fan boys will rest assured that they are getting another quality ON product, but I think Intrabolic fans will like this if given a shot too.

A lot of energy but tingly

By Carly on January 12, 2016

After researching several pre workout supplements I found this to be the "healthiest" so I ordered it. The taste is fine, it's sweet so I just use 2 spoons of it in water and I drink it fast. Im 125lb and 5'8". The only weird thing I noticed is that if I don't start working out within about 20 minutes my skin (especially face) gets itchy/tingly, but otherwise I'm usually fine. This gives me a lot of energy, I can work out much longer and use more weights. So there's definitely a difference, I feel more motivated to keep working out when I take this.

Essential Amino Energy fruit punch chalk mix

By Julian F on June 19, 2013

Upon first trying this out, I was mildly disappoint with the flavor and texture. The "fruit punch" fruit fusion formula tastes like someone ground up chalk with fruit punch kool-aid. Also makes the water feel chalky. With a chalky aftertaste. And chalk on the tongue. Chalk. Everywhere.

BUT, it IS 100% effective. Maybe it's the amino stacks, maybe it's the healthy dose of caffeine. Either way, this stuff helps me power through workouts, even when I feel burned out all day. (drink 30-45 min before workout). I'm a full-time student, getting ready to take my national boards, so by the time I go to the gym in the late afternoon I'm already feeling throttled. But when this stuff kicks in, I'm able to power through all my reps, and even throw in some extras to help push past my limits. I'm no gym rat, but this stuff is the real deal.

MY recommendation: 2-4 scoops with some water and some other fruit juice BEFORE workouts. Then 2-4 scoops in your post workout shake. All zip. No crash. I recommend this product and would buy it again (in a different flavor)!

**do NOT take this late in the day if you want to sleep that night**

The flavor of this powder is great! it gives you energy for hours and is great to take anytime. I take one serving in the morning and it usually lasts pretty much all day. I will also take another serving before going to the gym and gives a huge boost to my energy level. If I take it too soon before bed, it doesn't interfere with trying to fall asleep. It definitely isn't like drinking a cup of coffee or a soda drink. You don't feel a rush of energy and then a crash later, it is continuous energy that feels natural and you never feel any sort of a "crash" later on. Great buy.

Fruit fusion tastes like burnt hair smells

By Av on February 27, 2015

I don't like the taste of the fruit fusion. Tastes like the way burnt hair smells. Maybe it's just me, but I thoroughly don't enjoy the aftertaste. I was looking for something different from C4, which I love because it gives me a great PUMP (fingers tingle, love it!) and tastes amazing.

2 scoops does give me energy & I felt good at the gym but it just wasn't on the level of excitement I get from C4. I'm not ruling this product out, but the taste is a bummer!

This does not taste like fruit punch and leaves a terrible metallic after taste.

By Susan H on August 9, 2015

I have tried one of the other flavors from this brand, Orange Cooler, and wanted to try this to add to my options. This does not taste like fruit punch and leaves a terrible metallic after taste in my mouth. I have tried other brands and this is not going to get reordered nor used. I do not throw away products often because I do not like to waste money, but this may fit the bill.

could be a suitable replacement for you coffee drinkers

By daniel on December 27, 2015

I have tried multiple flavors and this is a great product made from a reputable brand, you can always trust Optimum Nutrition to deliver what is promises. This would always help to keep me awake in class and i did notice a difference if i took more than the minimum dose on days when i would train at the gym. Could be a suitable replacement for you coffee drinkers due to its ingredients.

My husband and I both use Optimum Nutrition Amino Energy and love it. It gives you the little boost you need without being too extreme like other pre-workout mixes on the market. I truly believe it also helps with endurance and muscle recovery because the days I don't take it I definitely feel much more next-day soreness.

Good product! Optimum Nutrition makes good products -- no.

By bcs6789 on January 12, 2015

Good product! Optimum Nutrition makes good products -- no question. The amino energy is another great product. Good amount of LASTING energy. The big problem with pre workouts is the lasting part of their enormous energy ingredients. The energy is potent and sufficient for a mid twenties avid weight lifter.
This. Simply. Lasts.

Excellent pre-workout supplement

Excellent pre-workout supplement. No side effects. Doesn't make my heart race, I can definitely feel the difference of energy levels when I take it about 15 minutes prior to any workout vs leaving it out completely.
